SNK Presents THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Special Interview with the Top Four players

CHAMPION

PLAYER NAME

A new KOF legend was born that day. His name was "M'".

–– What are your thoughts regarding the final results of this tournament?
M’   I'm happy that I managed to win one championship, which was one of the goals I had set for myself. I believe this feat was made possible thanks to all the people from HEIWAJIMA that practiced with me, especially Kindevu.

–– Which fights were the most memorable to you?
M’   That would be XIAOHAI. This is the first time I've fought against him, so I was looking forward to it very much, and the battle itself was quite enthralling.

–– What are your impressions regarding the top four players?
⇒ In regards to XIAOHAI
I think his situation assessing, adaptability and anticipation skills are formidable. He possesses something unique other players don't.
⇒ In regards to gxbridget
He's very good at forcing and rushing you. He's always in charge of the situation.
⇒ In regards to ET
His style is quite aggressive, but he's quite skilled at reading his opponent and his combos are well thought. I think there aren't many players like that in Japan.

–– Do you plan on competing at EVO2017?
M’   Of course. Winning at EVO is my biggest goal, so which I intend to improve my game even more.

–– What makes KOF XIV appealing and interesting to you?
M’   As with all KOF titles, being able to use three characters is one of the most endearing features of the game. It makes practicing and thinking counter measures worthwhile. Matches start from the moment you select the order in which the characters will fight, which is something 1-on-1 fighting games just don't have. There are also many ways in which to use gauges in this game, which creates many different ways of fighting.

–– What would you say to the fans that watched the championship?
M’   I look forward to your continued support!

–– What are your thoughts regarding the final results of this tournament?
gxbridget   I'm very thankful to all my friends who practiced with me and passed along a lot of valuable information. I still need to develop counter measures for specific characters, so I intend to try even harder and keep practicing a lot.

–– Which fights were the most memorable to you?
gxbridget   That would be Toshi. There's a lot that can be learned from the way he fights. More so, he knows a lot of Athena's moves that I wasn't aware of. The timing of his airborne moves is extremely precise.

–– What are your impressions regarding the top four players?
⇒ In regards to M'
He uses Robert, K' and Iori. He begins fights with Robert, which is a well-balanced character in the game, and ends with Iori, who is known for his defensiveness, so it's hard not be overthrown by him. His playstyle has a lot of stability, and he is very good a finding openings in his opponents.
⇒ In regards to XIAOHAI
The characters and the order in which he uses them are very similar to M's. He starts off with K', but then switches to Leona, so I ended up using the same fighting style I used against M'. He's very good at airborne combat too, and his movements are very precise all the way through.
⇒ In regards to ET
He uses Andy, Leona and Benimaru but it should be noted that he was the only player in the tournament to use Andy. He is very good at controlling the distance from his opponent, using Hishouken to keep his adversary away, and using Zaneiken to close in. He's quite confusing when using Benimaru, so even a slight mistake can result in a sudden loss.

–– Do you plan on competing at EVO2017?
gxbridget   I'd like to participate, if time and budget were to allow it. Of course, if I end up entering I intend to make it to the top!

–– What makes KOF XIV appealing and interesting to you?
gxbridget   There's a lot of interesting new characters, and connecting combos isn't that difficult, so I think that as a game it is very friendly to newcomers. Here's hoping for even more new characters!

–– What would you say to the fans that watched the championship?
gxbridget   I hope to do even better the next time around!

–– What are your thoughts regarding the final results of this tournament?
XIAOHAI   I've won every KOF XIV tournament I've entered so far, so I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't win the World Championship. It is a result not even I could predict.

–– Which fights were the most memorable to you?
XIAOHAI   That would be M'. It's like he is my doppelganger. The way in which he fights and thinks are the same as mine, so it felt as if I was fighting myself. I was surprised that we won, given that he has only battled in Japan so far.

–– What are your impressions regarding the top four players?
⇒ In regards to M'
As I said before, he's like another version of me.
⇒ In regards to gxbridget
His fighting style has a lot of stability.
⇒ In regards to ET
He has a lot of creativity, that's for sure!

–– Do you plan on competing at EVO2017?
XIAOHAI   Of course! And I intend to win, as well.

–– What makes KOF XIV appealing and interesting to you?
XIAOHAI   The game systems of this title are very innovative. There's a lot of strategy involved when choosing character order, and it becomes extremely important to make the right call when deciding who should fight first, second and last. I think it's very interesting that the game makes you think how many gauges you'll be able to fill in, which super moves you'll be able to execute and in which order you'll select your characters.

–– What would you say to the fans that watched the championship?
XIAOHAI   I promise I'll win next time!

PLAYER NAME

–– What are your thoughts regarding the final results of this tournament?
ET   Each and every player was extremely talented. A great deal of practice and preparations are always necessary in order to win, but I think that thanks to that I was able to fare quite well in this particular championship. I intend to do well next time too!

–– Which fights were the most memorable to you?
ET   That would be gxbridget. When I fought him using Leona, I failed to connect a tried-and-true combo, so I became quite nervous. I think this is mostly related to the timing in which the move should be executed, but I plan to improve my combos moving forward.

–– What are your impressions regarding the top four players?
⇒ In regards to M'
His K's is very powerful, and his playstyle has a lot of stability.
⇒ In regards to XIAOHAI
His reactions are very quick, and he's a fast learner as well.
⇒ In regards to gxbridget
He has a lot of stability. He doesn't rush, and is very well prepared as well.

–– Do you plan on competing at EVO2017?
ET   Of course, and I intend to win, too.

–– What makes KOF XIV appealing and interesting to you?
There's a lot characters, the super moves are splendid, and the new story is quite interesting. The fact that there are 50 playable characters is quite a feat in and of itself! There are many beginner-friendly combos, but I think it'd be great if we could select whether such combos can be used or not. It's also a pity that the number combos and possible combinations has been reduced from older entries of the series.

–– What would you say to the fans that watched the championship?
ET   Thank you very much for supporting me! I'll keep on fighting! Please look forward to next time!!
