What is Fist of the North Star?
Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken) is a Japanese manga franchise created by Buronson and illustrated by Tetsuo Hara. The series began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1983 and has captivated readers with its worldview and character visuals, drawn with overwhelming artistic skill, and the life of the protagonist, Kenshiro, who defeats evil with the ultimate assassination technique: Hokuto Shinken. Fist of the North Star began as a TV anime in 1984 and has continued to be loved by fans both in Japan and overseas through various media mixes to this day. With a total circulation of over 100 million copies, it is truly worthy of being called a “monumental achievement in action manga.”
